Isha (She/They) é uma artista haitiana-estadunidense que cria mundos do jeito que as mulheres negras sempre criaram: por visão, amor e necessidade. O uso de mídias multi-gênero confronta a validade das histórias colonizadas e se reorienta para as verdades das experiências vividas. Em 2021 foi membra do California Arts Council Individual Artist Fellow e recebeu o Reflection Fund for Artists by Artist as First Responder. Isha também é co-curadora da Residência Curatorial SOMARTS 2022 para o Projeto Indigo, uma jornada temporal que tece a conexão entre Indigo, algodão e jeans através da diáspora africana. Neste momento, Isha está na Bahia, Brasil, trabalhando em seu filme “7XOver7Seas”, que explora os impactos das mudanças climáticas em seres marginalizados cultural e geograficamente. As paixões do dia-a-dia de Isha incluem a criação de recursos e espaços para artistas negros e indígenas – ativistas para criar o futuro vital para nossa sobrevivência coletiva através do movimento que ela fundou, a Black Freedom Fellowship.

Isha (She/They) is an Ayitian-American artist who creates worlds the way black womxn have always created: out of vision, love, and necessity. Isha’s genre-bending media confronts the validity of colonized histories and re-orients to the truths of people with lived experiences. Isha is a 2021 California Arts Council Individual Artist Fellow, has been awarded the Reflection Fund for Artists by Artist as First Responder, and is the co-Curator of the SOMARTS 2022 Curatorial Residency for the Indigo Project, a temporal journey that weaves the connection between Indigo, Cotton and Denim across the African Diaspora. Right now Isha is in Bahia, Brazil, where she is working on her film, “7XOver7Seas” which explores the impacts of climate change on culturally and geographically marginalized beings. Isha’s day to day passions include generating resources and spaces for Black & Indigenous artists – activists to create the futures vital to our collective survival through the movement she founded, the Black Freedom Fellowship.
