Aldenor Prateiro is a visual artist who works with silver, brass, fabrics, and wood. As an academic researcher in the semi-arid region of Northeast Brazil for around 40 years, he was inevitably inspired by the sertão. Today, his artistic practice consists of researching, unveiling, denouncing, and intervening in themes related to slavery/racism and machismo based on post-colonial and decolonial perspectives. In 2023, he held his first solo exhibition “NEM TUDO QUE RELUZ É OURO” at the Galeria CONVIV’ART of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte. He has participated in group exhibitions, including the 3ª e 2ª Bienal Black (Third and Second Black Biennial); I Mostra Internacional de Arte Naif Erótica (First International Exhibition of Erotic Naive Art), and XV Bienal Naifs Brasileira (Fifteenth Brazilian Naive Biennial). He has participated in courses at the Escola de Artes Visual do Parque Lage (Parque Lage School of Visual Arts) in Rio de Janeiro; EBACK; Centro Cultural B_ARCO; Deart, Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte; and the Second RAVC at the Instituto Black Brasil.
