Isidora Gajic is an artist who transforms feelings and relationships into images, using photography as a form of visual poetry. Her practice includes experimental photography, handmade artist books, collages, and multimedia works. Her artworks explore themes connected to natural elements, symbolism, mythology, and traditional story narratives.
Isidora has exhibited in Brazil, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Serbia, and Latvia, participating in solo, dual, and group exhibitions at institutions that include SESC (Rio de Janeiro), KCG Cultural Center (Serbia), Cvijeta Zuzorić Art Pavilion (Belgrade), and ISSP Latvia. She has held solo exhibitions at Galeria Silvia Cintra + Box 4 (Rio de Janeiro, 2020 and 2024); the Simone Klein Gallery (Cologne, 2022), presenting the silk print series Sirenes; and Galeria Wickbold (São Paulo, 2016). In 2012, she received the Dutch Talent award from GUP Publications. Her book Ecume was published in 2018 by L’Editeur du Dimanche (France) and Editora Madalena (Brazil). In 2022, L’Editeur du Dimanche published her second book, Sirenes, a handmade artist book in an edition comprising 30 copies. She has attended artist residencies such as ISSP Latvia (2012) and a residency with the artist Miguel Rio Branco in Brazil (2014 to 2016).
Born in 1988 in Belgrade, Serbia, Isidora grew up between Hungary and Switzerland. She moved to the Netherlands after completing secondary education, attending the Foto-Factory (Amsterdam), where she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She has also attended various masterclasses on experimental photography, silkscreen printing, large-format photography, and darkroom techniques. Isidora worked at World Press Photo (Amsterdam, 2010 to 2012) and as an archive manager, creative producer, and book designer for artists including Paul Blanca and Miguel Rio Branco. Since 2013, her studio has been based in Araras, Rio de Janeiro. Isidora is represented by Galeria Silvia Cintra + Box 4 (Rio de Janeiro).
