Caitlin Horsmon é artista, curadora e professora que vive em Kansas City, Missouri. Baseada na imagem em movimento, mas integrando instalação, som, escultura, colaborações, curadoria e programação comunitária, seu trabalho investiga as paisagens do dia-a-dia. Ele foi exibido em diversos países, recebendo inúmeros prêmios e bolsas, incluindo o Rocket Grant da Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Charlotte Street Foundation e Spencer Museum of Art, e também o Bernardin Distinguished Research Award. Caitlin foi diretora do Plug Projects, espaço autônomo de arte gerido por artistas, e fundadora do Stray Cat Film Center. Ela também foi coordenadora de divulgação educacional do Chicago International Film Festival e diretora do Thaw Media Festival em Iowa City. Caitlin é formada em Cinema e Literatura Comparada e Produção de Mídia pela Universidade de Iowa e Política pelo Oberlin College. Ela é Professora Associada de Cinema e Artes de Mídia na Universidade de Missouri-Kansas City, onde atua como Diretora Associada de Programas de Graduação na Faculdade de Artes e Ciências e é membro das faculdades de Estudos Feministas e de Gênero e Doutorado. Caitlin Horsmon is an artist, curator, and teacher based in Kansas City Missouri. Grounded in the moving image but integrating installation, sound, sculpture, collaborations, curatorial work, and community programming, her work investigates the landscapes of the everyday. It has been exhibited around the world receiving numerous awards and grants including a Rocket Grant from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Charlotte Street Foundation and Spencer Museum of Art, and a Bernardin Distinguished Research Award. Caitlin is a former director of the artist-run space Plug Projects and is a founder of Stray Cat Film Center. She was also the educational outreach coordinator for the Chicago International Film Festival and Director of the Thaw Media Festival in Iowa City. Caitlin has degrees in Cinema & Comparative Literature and Media Production from the University of Iowa and Politics from Oberlin College. She is Associate Professor of Film & Media Arts at the University of Missouri-Kansas City where she serves as the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs in the College of Arts and Sciences and is a member of the Women’s and Gender Studies and Doctoral faculties. Her work is distributed by The Collectif Jeune Cinéma.
