Mayra Azzi is a visual artist by training, and she works in the audiovisual area as a photographer and videomaker, where she collaborates with diverse dance, performance, and theater companies. In the publishing market, she mainly works as a portrait artist, in addition to collaborating with documentary and experimental projects as director of photography, still and camera assistant in long, short and experimental films.
Her research is currently related to time and the memory of things as material for the construction of narratives and stories, both documentary and fictional. For example, the yet-to-be published photobook O tempo das coisas was selected at the Clube do Fotolivro, Festival Zum, where she presented an advance copy of O tempo das coisas in 2022. She also received Honorable Mention in the Foto em Pauta Award for the advance copy of the photobook O tempo das coisas in 2022 and second place in the category Documentary Series in the Prêmio Doc F (Brazilian award for family documentary photography) in 2022.
